LXII. Pillow talk

Had a lovely dinner with the reunited rackateers and enjoyed some interesting *estrogen-filled* conversation. We've concluded that..

no one dates in Nova because people here aren't fun and adventurous. Guys are crude, rude, and just plain dude. As someone had stated, "Most guys in Nova are douchbags." Ouch, dudes. What did guys do to get such a comment? Explain yourselves, man!

But, also, it is because you have girls like me who have lists for guys that basically just describe ourselves.
For example:

I just want a nice guy who..

loves Jesus.
loves me second :)
cares for people (not just his friends).
strongly appreciates music (creating it is optional).
doesn't mind getting lost.
appreciates other cultures (not just their food..).
appreciates the arts.
reads.
is 5'8" or taller..
lives with honesty and integrity/a person of respect.
has goals and good work ethic.
is adventurous and willing to go out of his comfort zone.
isn't afraid to confront me when I'm stupid.
takes responsibility for his actions.
is manly enough to appreciate his emotional side.
believes that love is the most powerful thing in the world.

Is that too much to ask?? Apparently so.

Actually, these guys do exist and I know because I'm friends with some of them.
I know that once they realize how awesome they are aka Jesus gives them the 'go', they'll grow some and ask a honey out.
As for the rest of you.. I really don't know.

But you know, I do believe that ladies, just as much as gentlemen, have the responsiblity to work on themselves as individuals and cool girls. I'd like to know what a guy's list looks like to see the areas in which we are lacking. It's only fair...

And I'm curious to know my ladyfriend's lists too.

Matchmaking time? :}

  1. Jessie's List

    1. knows true manhood comes from a relationship with Christ, not from women/ wants to know his Creator as deeply as possible
    2. has a great sense of humor (hahah you know me..this is WAAAAY important)
    3. is honest. honest enough to show me the good, the bad, and the ugly of who they are.
    4. understands that love is not just a feeling, its an ever-changing commitment to an ever-changing person.
    5. challenges me to not be a proud idiot about my feelings...i.e. trust him (and other people) enough to admit when they are hurt
    6. knows how to manage money/ be independent/ provide for themselves.

    (bonus)
    1. tall (HAHAHA, i know...i'm being greedy with that one. besides everybody is taller than me)
    2. plays the piano (that way when i blow thousands of dollars on a steinway they'll understand)
    3. into art history or poetry (i'm not making creativity a must, but it'd be helpful if they were cool with the things i live and breathe)
    4. cooks

    THAT'S IT.

  2. Za'chary's list:

    1. Someone I can trust to discuss anything, therefore...
1.a Christian with a strong understanding of her theology
1.b Believes that art is a vehicle for beauty and truth (none of this "just watch the movie" crap)
    1.c Intellectually fearless
2.A Hot (as my mother told me: "don't marry someone you're not attracted to, this is person you'll be having sex with the rest of your life")
2.B But cool... if she can't roll out of bed, throw her hair into a pony tail, whip on jeans and a t-shirt and feel okay with the world, move on
    3. Creative but not a novelist or playwright (ideally, singer-songwriter, but poets, painters, actresses, etc. are cool)
    4. Powerful, matriarchal shell surrounding a gooey, dorky filling
    5. That where you're just comfortable
    6. Passionate, has goals that I can support her through
    7. Reads good novels (I write them, so this is important)

Also, if a guy is waiting for Jesus to give him the 'go', he's already grown his. Waiting on God's timing always feels like a cosmic game of chicken and it takes brass to not swerve until He gives the okay.

  3. Jess- good point on #4. niiiice.

Za'chary- I've never thought of it that way, but you're right about a guy willing to wait on God's timing. Very cool.

I really like where this is going.
